  • The Gambia has started updating its NDC to cover more sectors and gases and to slightly increase current ambition levels. Its unconditional target is already amongst the most ambitious, rated by the Climate Action Tracker as being “1.5°C Paris Agreement compatible”
  • The country’s Sustainable Energy Action Plan includes specific renewable energy and energy efficiency targets. A number of initiatives are being undertaken to increase renewables, which will reduce dependency on fossil fuels for electricity generation by more than half by 2025
  • Steps are being taken to increase ambition in adaptation planning for the immediate and long term future and a Long-Term Climate Change Vision for 2046 is in development in line with the LDC Vision 2050
