Date: 09 May 2012

On 8 May 2012, the Least Developed Countries group elected the following representatives to serve on committees that will steer the future of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

David Kaluba from Zambia, will serve on the board of the Green Climate Fund, with Mesbah ul Alam from Bangladesh as his alternate member.

Sumaya Zakieldeen from Sudan will sit on the Adaptation Committee and Edith Kateme-Kasajja from Uganda will join the Standing Committee that has been set up to help improve the delivery of climate change finance.

“I congratulate my colleagues from Zambia, Sudan, Uganda and Bangladesh on their appointments to these key committees,” said Pa Ousman Jarju, chair of the LDC group. “In taking up their positions on these committees, they will embark on efforts to represent the joint interests of the 48 nations in the Least Developed Countries. Together we will play an important role in shaping the global response to climate change.”
